Highly experienced in mortgage valuations, private valuations and surveys for a variety of clients throughout South and West Wales. Alex joined Astleys in 2016 from Colleys Property Surveyors (part of the Lloyds Banking Group). With over 6 years post qualification as a Chartered Surveyor, Alex quickly became an integral member of the firm and was shortly appointed as Director and Head of Residential Professional Services in 2018.

Paul Beaton B.SC(HONS) MRICS

Director, Head of Commercial Professional Services Department and RICS registered Valuer

Providing valuations of commercial and residential properties, expert witness reports, rent reviews, specialist valuations, and various other property-related issues. Paul joined Astleys in 1997 after qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and become Partner in 2002. Paul’s experience has been within a wide range of property types throughout Wales.

Sean Thomas B.SC(HONS)MRICS

Director, Head of Commercial Agency and RICS Registered Valuer

With over 15 years’ experience and 12 years post qualification as a Chartered Surveyor, Sean deals with all aspects of commercial property and currently runs the Commercial Agency Department, covering the South and West Wales Region. Appointed as Director in 2016, Sean also is responsible for the performance of the residential agency offices. Sean also deals with a range of property and land acquisitions working with a number of local and national clients. Sean is an RICS Registered Valuer undertaking a range of valuations including Private Valuations, Commercial and Residential Mortgage Valuations and Self-Invested Personal Pension Valuations.

Matt Barry Astleys

Matt Barry

Director, Head of Estate Agency

Matt first joined Astleys in 2012 and started as a sales negotiator at our busy Morriston branch, before being promoted to valuer in 2014 and then going on to become the branch manager at our Mumbles office in 2015 where he became well established in the local community.

Matt was then appointed as a director in 2021 and is responsible for the residential agency side of the business. He has a great passion for property and strives to make sure we are continually providing our clients with the highest levels of service.

Leighton undertakes a range of residential valuation work including mortgage valuations and Homebuyer Reports. He has a comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and has accumulated a range of experience in the construction sector from previous roles. Leighton started life working on construction sites as a bricklayer before achieving a degree in Construction Management. He has worked as a cost estimator for a large local firm and then managing surveyor for a local housing authority. Leighton joined Astleys in 2018 and has become an integral part of the team. He prides himself on providing a high-quality service to clients.

Robert Cowley FRICS

Consultant

RICS No: 51637

Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1976 and was elected a Fellow of the RICS in 1990. Has worked for the whole of his career in the Swansea Bay area and has a great local knowledge. Joined Astleys in 1988 and became a partner in 1992 on the acquisition of the business and Senior Director in 2012 upon incorporation. After his retirement from the firm he now continues to work as a consultant, specialising in Leasehold Enfranchisement and Auctioneering.

Simon Davies B.SC(HONS) MRICS

Consultant

Former Partner and Head of Building Surveying section of Professional Services Department, with more than twenty years post qualification experience of property related matters in the south and west Wales region. He now continues to work as a consultant and still remains responsible for coordinating and undertaking a full range of Building Surveying and related professional services including building surveys, dilapidation matters, expert witness, party wall, repair and refurbishment schemes, and RICS HomeBuyer reports.
